Principal Investigator:
Dr David Cebon
Project Details:
The project is concerned with the permanent deformation and creep of non-linear viscoelastic composites. It will involve laboratory experiments, computer modelling of test specimens and finite element modelling of the material in engineering applications. The project will provide an opportunity to develop fundamental materials science and apply it to practical engineering problems.
Background Required:
Applicants should have (or expect to obtain) a first class degree in Engineering, Materials Science or Physics, with a background in materials or solid mechanics.
Funding Source:
This fully-funded PhD studentship in engineering will be for three years, starting from 1 October, 2005. University and College fees will be paid, together with a maintenance award of £12,000 for students who are normally resident in the UK or EU. A lower maintenance allowance is available for overseas students.
